How to Survive the Blitz and Other Things was commissioned by Portland Works as part of Inside Out Festival, September 2016.
The Bare Project created a site specific performance exploring the themes of survival and resistance, inspired by the sheer scale of traumatic and chaotic threats which have faced this incredible building throughout its lifetime.
Portland Works was the first place in the world to produce stainless steel cutlery, and stainless steel was itself invented in Sheffield. It is a grade II* listed building, and it is now community owned, and co-operatively run, with many active, highly skilled, craft tenants.
Inside Out Festival is being promoted and produced jointly with the University of Sheffield, and will be part of the University Festival of the Mind. They will also be part of the Year of Making that Sheffield is promoting in 2016.
