The Sheffield & Tinsley Canal is a surreal place rich in history, but often hidden from view. Everyday Myths is an interactive audio walk interweaving stories from the communities who live along the canal with ancient secrets hidden in the waterways. Hear of journeys and homecomings, beasts and heroines, and find artefacts, some real and some imagined, and share your own stories too!
This audio artwork has been created over the past two months through a series of Story Swap Cafes and workshops with residents of all ages from The Wicker, Attercliffe, Tinsley and Rotherham hosted by The Bare Project.
Everyday Myths is a collaboration with Grimm & Co, and the Canal & River Trust as part of Hinterlands, a new arts programme that connects local communities and promotes wellbeing, supported by Arts Council England and the Arts Council of Wales.
We’re hosting a Story Swap Cafe at Victoria Quays on Saturday 12th May from 11am-4pm! There will be live music, stories and refreshments. Come along and share a story!
